One Day Faculty Orientation Program on
Computational Fluid Dynamics – Theory and Applications
31st March, 2012
Under TEQIP – Phase II SC 1.2
Objective of the Program:
The Program has been designed to introduce the subject CFD and create awareness amongst the academicians and field engineers about its potential applications. CFD is an important numerical tool for simulating heat transfer and fluid flow problems of practical interest. With the rapid development of computer technology and advancement in numerical analysis and algorithms over the past few decades CFD has found applications in varieties of fields including Aerospace, Oceanography, Meteorology, Naval architecture, Surface transport, Micro and Nano scale heat transfer and fluid flow etc. This created interest for learning the subject among academicians and practicing engineers of mechanical, aerospace, civil, chemical and other disciplines. The advancement in the numerical analysis lead to the development of commercial software like ANSYS / FLUENT, CFX, STAR CD etc to model CFD problems relevant to industrial and research applications.
In the present program, methods of solutions of linear and non-linear governing equations along with their appropriate boundary conditions will be discussed. Also opportunity will be provided for establishing confidence in using ANSYS / FLUENT, CFX software.

Faculty Development Program on
Real World Web Services
31 March, 2012
Under TEQIP Phase - II SC 1.2
About Web Services:
Web services are the fundamental building blocks in the move to distributed computing on the internet. Web services are becoming the platform for application integration. Applications are constructed using web services from various sources that work together regardless of where they reside or how they were implemented. Web Services expose useful functionality to Web users through a standard Web protocol. In most cases, the protocol used is SOAP. Web services provide a way to describe their interfaces in enough detail to allow a user to build a client application to talk to them. This description is usually provided in an XML document called a Web Web services are registered so that potential users can find them easily. This is done with Universal Discovery Description and Integration (UDDI). One of the primary advantages of the XML Web services architecture is that it allows programs written in different languages on different platforms to communicate with each other in a standards-based way. We've defined an XML Web service as a software service exposed on the Web through SOAP, described with a WSDL file and registered in UDDI. Today Web services are increasingly becoming an integral part of organizational information technology (IT) infrastructures. So this FDP has been arranged to make faculty understand the concepts of web services and securing Web services.
