14.The vertical photograph of a chimney was taken from an elevation of 700m above mean-sea
level. The elevation of the base of the chimney is 300m.If the relief displacement of the chimney is
45.1mm and the radial distance of the image of the top of the chimney from the principal point of the
photograph is 12mm, determine the height of the chimney.
15.An area 32Km long in north-south direction and25Km in east –west direction is to be
photographed with a camera of a focal length 250mm.The photograph size is 20CMx20CM .The
average scale is to be 1:12,000 effective at an elevation of 400m above datum. End lap is to at
least65% and side lap is35% .The ground speed of the air craft is 200Km/hour. The flight lines are to
be laid in a north-south direction on an existing map at scale 1:60,000.the two outer flight lines are to
coincide with the east and west boundaries of the area. Calculate the data for flight plan.
16The photo coordinates of the images a and b of two points A and B measured on of vertical
photograph taken at flying height of 1500m froma camera having lens of focal length 150mm,are as
follows.

  1. a). Distinguish between R.C. short and long column.
    b). Why it is necessary to have lateral ties in columns? What are the specifications for this lateral ties.

  2. Design an axially loaded tied column of size 400mm x 400mm pinned at both ends with unsupported length of 3m for carrying a factored axial load of 2300kN. Use M20 grade concrete and Fe415 grade steel.
  3. Design an R.C square column of side 450mm, to carry an axial factored load of 2000kN and a factored moment of 200kNm about one of its axis. Use M 20 grade concrete and Fe415 grade steel.
  4. Explain how to determine the uni-axial moment carrying capacity of short column for a given axial load and percentage of steel using interaction diagrams.

  1. Find the reinforcement required for 400 x 500mm column subjected to a factored load of 1800kN accompanied by factored moment 120kN-m the reinforcement is provided on four sides and use M20 grade concrete and Fe 415 grade steel.
