| The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1977. At present, the department is offering one UG program (B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering) with a student intake of 120 and one PG program M.Tech (AUTOMATED MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS)) with a student intake of 12. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the biggest department having 39 faculty members with 26 Ph.D’s. The UG program of Mechanical Engineering was accredited by National Board Accredition (NBA) 4 times since inception. The curriculum is a blend of conventional and latest technologies. It is updated regularly to keep up with the growing demands and the changing trends of the industry. The Department has a thriving research environment with active research groups in the areas of Characterization of Metal Matrix and Natural Fiber Composites, Alternative Fuels, Heat Transfer, CFD, Analysis of Composites using FEM, Machine Condition Monitoring & Fault Diagnostics, Robotics, Additive Manufacturing, Tribology, Process Optimization etc. |

Our Strengths
Experienced Faculty
Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the largest departments having 35 faculty members including 24 Ph.D holders. Majority of the faculty are highly experienced with Ph.D. qualification from premier institutions encompassing IIT’s, NIT’s and Government Universities.
Sponsored Research and Development
The department has till date completed externally funded projects to the tune of Rs.198.28 lakhs including MODROBS. Presently the department is handling two projects worth of Rs 28.80 lakhs. The projects have been sponsored by esteemed organisations such as DST, DRDO,NSTL,UGC, AICTE etc. At present, the department has published 11 patents and filed3 patent applications. Several research papers have been published in SCI and Scopus indexed journals. The papers published are mainly in the research topics ranging from Composites, Alternate Fuels, Machine Condition Monitoring and Fault Diagnostics, FRP Composite Materials, Heat Transfer and Refrigeration etc. The department is a recognized research centre of JNTUK, Kakinada.
Academic Partners
The department is engaged in collaboration with several National organizations for promoting training, student internship, student projects, research & development activities. Siemens Center of Excellence established in the year 2017 in collaboration with SIEMENS and APSSDC is continuously imparting industry relevant training to the students of the department. 3D Experience Center established in the year 2018 by APSSDC in collaboration with Dassaults Systemes fulfils the aim of making students Industry-ready. The department has MOUs with following Organizations such as NIT Warangal, AVANTEL Limited, STARPLAST Industries, PRAKASA SPECTRO CAST Pvt. Ltd. and SYNERGEM, M/s Ramesh Aerospace Products & Services Pvt. Ltd, Siemens Center of Excellence and DASSULT’s 3D-Experience Center etc.
Consultancy & Testing
Mechanical Engineering Department is actively engaged in providing consultancy services to various Academic and Industrial organisations in and around the Krishna district. Consultancy Services related to Tensile, Impact, Flexural Testing of Composites, Sonification, Wear Test, Analysis of Bio-Desel Fuels etc. are being rendered.Industry problems are also taken up as consultancy works by the faculty.

Students have been selected for employment in various national and multi-national companies such as Cognizant, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cap Gemini, Accenture, Hyundai Motors, Ashok Leyland, L&T, JSW group, Reliance Industries, KCP Limited, VEE Technologies, RAAM Group, JasperIndustries etc.
