Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education (SAGTE), the Sponsoring Society (SAGTE) was established in the year 1975 in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, SAGTE was established by 250 philanthropists with a mission to create educational institutions of excellence that embrace a holistic approach to general, technical, and professional education. Registered under the Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, SAGTE is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of education at all levels. Since its inception, SAGTE has successfully established 18 institutions across various fields, including arts and sciences, engineering, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and hotel management.
The Sponsoring Society is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi. More than 85,000 students graduated from various academic programs and occupied prominent positions and are serving various organizations across the globe. Currently more than 24,600 students are studying in Siddhartha Institutions supported by 1500 experienced faculty. With this, one can understand that the Sponsoring Society envisaged, embarked upon and executed a grand plan of action aimed at comprehensive educational development of the region.
With the evolving academic landscape and regulatory requirements, SAGTE established Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education as a deemed-to-be University to further its mission of providing impactful, innovative education.

First Private Engineering college in the composite state of AP(1977)
First Private Medical college in the composite state of AP (established) by Siddhartha Academy was taken over by the then Govt. of AP 1981
The first Private PG centre in the Region (1987)
The first Private Pharmacy college in the composite state of AP(1994)
What we Do
Today, the Academy sponsors 3 Junior Colleges, 3 Degree Colleges (UG & PG), 2 Engineering Colleges, 1 Medical College, 1 Dental College, 1 Pharmacy College, 2 Nursing Institutions, 1 Law College, 1 College of Education, 1 Hotel Management College, 2 Public Schools and a Training centre for Civil Services Examination. In addition, the Academy runs a Kalapeetham which has been rendering yeoman service to the world of art and culture and a Foundation which financially supports the needy for the promotion of education. Siddhartha offers education to 21000 students out of which 11000 are boys and the rest are girls. The Academy has created employment in its educational institutions to more than 3200 people ranging from Doctorates to Matriculates and even below. 1500 strong teacher contingent and 1700 strong supporting staff happen to be the committed educational army of the Academy with noble and wise members of Governing body with their proven capabilities and highly reputed professional standing.

Assimilating the advances made in various areas of activity and considering the educational needs of the region, the following institutions have been established over the last four and half decades.
- Parvathaneni Brahmayya Siddhartha College of Arts & Science (1975) (Post Graduate Centre established in 1987 (The First Private PG Centre Locally)
- Veeeramachaneni Paddayya Siddhartha Public School (1977)
- Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College (1977) (First Private Engineering College in the composite state of AP) and First institution in the private sector in the entire state to start M. Tech programmes (1999).
- Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala (1982)
- V. Rao Siddhartha College of Education (1984)
- Velagapudi Durgamba Siddhartha Law College (1987)
- KCP Siddhartha Adarsh Residential Public School (1991)
- Kommareddy Venkata Sadasiva Rao Siddhartha College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (1994), First Private Pharmacy college in the state of A.P and First time in Andhra Pradesh, a Pharma Innovation and Incubation Centre (10,000 Sq. ft) built at the cost of over Rs.1.0 Crore

In addition to the above, two service oriented organisations are established by Siddhartha Academy, namely, Siddhartha Kala Peetham and Siddhartha Foundation.
- Mummaneni Subbarao Siddhartha Kala Peetham:The Academy established ‘Siddhartha Kala Peetham’ in 1989 for the promotion of Indian arts and culture, which invites renowned artists across the globe to present their performances.
- Siddhartha Foundation: To grant scholarships to the needy and meritorious students irrespective of caste, creed, race or religion etc., for encouraging talent and prosper through higher education.

There are seven office bearers of the sponsoring society, who are elected by the governing body members of the society (26 Nos) to look after the day to day affairs of all the institutions run by the society.
