Additional Lab Courses

Description:

The students can learn how to program the basic functionalities of a DSP like arithmetic operations, also they can learn how to generate the ramp up, ramp down, triangular waves. The students can also learn the data transfer techniques in a DSP i.e. how to access the various locations of memory using the direct and indirect addressing modes, also how to transfer the data from lower to upper and upper to lower memory address locations. The students can also learn how to access the general purpose input and output (GPIO) pins of a DSP. How to enable the GPIO pins, how to interface an external device to a DSP, how enable transfer the data from the DSP to the external device. The students can also learn PWM generation for event managers. The Digital controllers lab is one of the laboratories offered by the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering for the fourth year B. Tech EEE students.

Description:

In this laboratory, a 4ph-SRM (1hp, 300V) using FPGA spartan6 & SRM power module setup is available. This setup is very useful to discuss the open loop and closed loop speed control operation of SRM. An SRM has the flexibility of operating as a four-quadrant drive with independent control of speed and torque over a wide speed range. Their wide torque and speed range eliminates the need for expensive and troublesome mechanical gears and transmissions. In this drives lab speed control of BLDC (1hp, 230V DC, 5A, 3000rpm) motor using FPGA spartan6 controller with three phase inverter module setup is also available. BLDC motor commutation technique based on three inbuilt Hall Effect sensors is also available. With help of the module the open loop and closed loop speed control performance of BLDC motor can be discussed. The closed loop speed control of 310V AC PMSM motor also has been discussed with the same module.

Major Equipments:

  1. 1HP / 230 V / PMSM Motor with BDA
  2. 1 HP / 200 V / BLDC Motor with BDA
  3. Controls for above Two Motor with FPGA & IGBT modules
  4. 1 HP /SRM Motor with BDA with IGBT Module

The total cost of the lab equipment : Rs. 9,52,189 /-.
