Recognising the need to have effective executive to manage business with globalization and savage competition, the need for professional managers was felt acutely. Keeping this in view the Department of Business Management was founded in 2007 to benefit the industry by grooming professional and potential managers. The two-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme aims to create holistic managers, synthesizing conventional and modern management thinking with a global outlook. The course structure consisting of Marketing, Finance and Human Resource Management Specializations is constantly updated in line with changing needs of the industry.
The MBA programme has been designed with new and innovative courses reinforced with multi-faceted inputs of management education and State-of-the-Art methods of training. Ever since the inception of the course thirteen batches have passed out and the 14th and 15th batches are undergoing the programme. About 70% of the students get placements in every batch and many of them are holding responsible positions in industry and business. A number of them either started business enterprises on their own or joined their family business. The department aim is to provide to the corporate world the dynamic leaders of the tomorrow who can deal successfully with uncertainty.
The MBA Department comprises rich blend of 8 faculty members of which 7 are doctorates and the remaining member is also in the process of getting Ph.D very soon. Apart from this expert faculty from Training & Development and English departments provide career guidance and develop soft skills among the students. In addition to regular clause instruction, the MBA students are facilitated with numerous learning resources i.e. Central Library (with huge number of books, National and International Journals & Magazines), Internet and well equipped laboratory. Department library is also maintained the needs for ready reference. Several modern teaching methods like PPTs, Interactive learning, Case discussion, Mini projects, Surveys and other innovative practices are adapted by the faculty members to enrich the knowledge of the students. With a view to enhance the employability, the department places utmost importance to Internships, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCS) and Industrial study visits. Extension lectures are also arranged by inviting eminent resource persons from the Industry and Academia.
The students of each class are divided into Seven groups with 9 to 10 members each. One faculty member used to monitor each group regarding their regularity, punctuality, discipline and other grievances. Students are given continuous guidance as well as counselling by the respective faculty members. Parents are informed about their ward’s performance periodically.
Going by the fact that quality in higher education depends on aligning teaching with research, the department pays special attention towards this end. The faculty have been actively involved in research. Dr.V.Narasimha Rao has been the recognized supervisor of JNTUK Kakinada, JNTUH Hyderabad, Acharya Nagarjuna, Krishna and Rayalaseema Universities for guiding Ph.D and M.Phil Scholars. Still now 18scholars were awarded Ph.D and M.Phil Degrees under his guidance. The department publishes the proceedings of National & International Seminars organized by it. It has brought out a Department Journal from the year 2015. The faculty members continuously publish research papers in National and International Journals (Peer-reviewed, UGC Approved, Scopus and SCI). They also submit research papers in various Seminars/Conferences organized by different Universities/Colleges/Institutes.
