Dr. A. V. Ratna Prasad born on 14th November 1968, obtained his B.Tech degree from Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada in 1989, and Master ’s degree from IIT, Kharagpur in 1991 and Ph.D from JNTU, Hyderabad in Mar 2007. Dr. Ratna Prasad served as a Product development Engineer in Ashok Leyland Ltd., Chennai for 2 years and joined V.R. Siddhartha Engineering college as a lecturer in 1992 and presently working as the Principal of the college since May 2014.
Dr Prasad is an active researcher in the area of ‘Natural fiber Composites’ and published 60 research papers, in peer-reviewed International and National Journals which are SCI indexed having Thomson Reuters Impact factor and in International Conferences and filed 4 patents. His papers were cited by more than 1000 researchers across the world in 20 countries. He was recognized twice for highest number of citations for one of his papers in International ‘Journal of Materials and Design’ published by ELSEVIER, UK since 2010 and is placed on the cover page of the journal and also Received ‘Outstanding contributor award’ as Reviewer in 2017 from Journal of Industrial Crops & Products’(Elsevier), Amesterdam, Netherlands.
As a Principal Investigator he obtained a grant of Rs 1.06 cr for Major Research Projects funded by DST, UGC, AICTE & DRDO. He is an active reviewer for many research papers published in more than 20 reputed International Journals.
As a Principal of the college he implemented several best practices, few of them includes

Dr. Prasad is a recognized master trainer, resource person and ‘Margdarshak’ for National Board of accreditation, New Delhi and mentored many institutions in preparation of Self Assessment Report on outcome based education and accreditation. He is a life member of professional societies such as IE(I), ISTE & ISSRO.
He visited University of Toronto, University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Canada and delivered expert lectures and chaired sessions in many International conferences.
