Department of Chemistry
The Department was established in the year 1977 and it comprises of qualified, trained and dedicated faculty. The prime responsibility of the Department is to organize the teaching of Engineering Chemistry for B. Tech. students of all Engineering branches and provide research facilities in the thrust areas of Applied Chemistry and related Engineering disciplines. The Department is very active in teaching, research and administrative activities. The well established Research groups led by the faculty members, offer research facilities in the areas of Environmental chemistry, Water pollution control, Ultrasonic studies in organic compounds, Corrosion control of various metals and alloys, Spectrophotometric analysis of various drugs and pesticides and Synthetic heterocyclic chemistry. The faculty members are guiding Ph.D. and M. Phil. scholars and published many research papers in leading International and National Journals.
Environmental Science
The faculty members handling Environmental Science are also a part of the Department, and they are actively involved in research related to Environmental issues like Assessment and Control of Environmental pollution, etc. Further, they are continuously putting their efforts in creating Awareness on various Environmental issues among students of the Campus and beyond.
Objectives
• To teach Engineering Chemistry to B.Tech. students of all branches so that they can apply the knowledge in their respective fields.
• To encourage and guide B.Tech./M.Tech. students to take up projects relevant to application of chemistry knowledge.
• To provide all necessary laboratory facilities required for B.Tech./ M.Tech. students to carry out their experiments and projects.
• To provide research facilities to younger teaching faculty members to carry out their research leading to Ph.D./M.Phil. degree.
• To publish quality research papers in reputed journals and to get projects from various funding agencies like AICTE, UGC, DST, DRDO, etc.
