Department of Physics
Physics is one of the oldest and fundamental academic disciplines of science. Physics also makes significant contributions in all the engineering & sciences through advances in new technologies that arise from theoretical breakthroughs. The Department of Physics was established in the year 1977 and the department consists of highly qualified, experienced, trained, dedicated, hardworking faculty members. The keynote point of the Department is to teach Engineering Physics for B. Tech. students of all Engineering branches. The Engineering Physics course contents offered for B.Tech. students at V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College provides strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities necessary for building strong Engineering career. The content of the course includes the topics from Quantum mechanics, Magnetic materials, Dielectrics, Electromagnetic Field Theory, Superconductivity, Semiconductors, Lasers, Optical fibres and Nanotechnology. The Department involves in valuable teaching and learning methods. Also the faculty members of the department are highly research oriented and published many papers in reputed national and international journals. At present, there are 6 faculty members in the department in which 5 members are with Ph.D. degrees and rest of the member is pursuing Ph.D. degree.

To impart fundamental knowledge and advances in physics for engineering students and excel in research activities.
MISSION
The department aspires to provide the best methods in teaching the basic principles of physics both theoretical & experimental and put most of the time to keep the level of education, scientific research and community service.
Objectives
- To conduct national and international conferences/seminars/workshops/ symposia/ Guest lectures for the benefit of students and teachers.
- To propose projects/Inter-disciplinary projects to various funding agencies like APSCHE/AICTE/DST/UGC/DRDO and others.
- The department faculty members to focus more on publishing papers in national/international journals/proceedings in addition to presenting research papers in
national/international conferences. - To do quality research and inter-disciplinary research work in collaboration with other departments which can lead to patents.
- To establish good networking with the other institutes for mutual benefits particularly in the field of research.
